My Canon is saying lenses error, restart camera. Any ideas on how to fix it? - canon error

This is a Canon Power Shot SD1000 and I just had to use today and the news came in a black screen. its not really my camera, is a member of the family, prefer not to send it somewhere. especially in the initial advice on how to solve it at home or you can put them everywhere in Fort Lauderdale, FL area?
